The Bellevue Development Committee was created in September 2023 to foster stronger connections between the Development Services Department and the development community. Made up of representatives from the development community, business groups and city staff, the committee will work to fortify participation and partnership to achieve the following outcomes:

  • Build positive relationships between the Development Services line of business and the development community and provide opportunities for interested parties to build positive relationships with each other
  • Create a permanent committee to meet regularly and identify and address opportunities and/or concerns
  • Engage the development community to identify process improvement opportunities for permitting, entitlement and inspection
  • Connect with the development community on initiated code amendments
  • Provide a place for reciprocal education on industry-related topics
  • Serve as a dedicated avenue for finding solutions through collaboration and provide a forum for dialogue
  • Provide updates to the development community on progress of improvements

The committee will offer an inclusive forum for comprehensive partner input from the development industry and provide an opportunity for the city and developers to identify challenges and solutions in partnership with each other.

This committee does not address policy-related issues or issues that need to be initiated by the Bellevue City Council. This committee does not replace or duplicate authority that exists within other existing city commissions, councils or committees, such as the Planning Commission and the city council. If an issue or opportunity is raised that falls outside the scope of the BDC, the issue will be directed to the appropriate venue for consideration.

Director's Message

I appreciate the Bellevue community and city team for helping me understand the history, culture and trajectory of Bellevue and for your support in finding ways to build upon the great partnerships we have already formed.

I have said many times that Bellevue is in an enviable position to work with great industry representatives and have such fantastic professionals on our team. Because of this strong foundation, we can take our partnership even further with the help of the Bellevue Development Committee.

-Rebecca Horner, AICP

Director, Development Services Department
